ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (WBAY) - A fire early Friday morning destroyed a popular Elkhart Lake restaurant.
The Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office says firefighters were called to Three Guys & a Grill East just after 4 a.m.
"We saw that there were flames coming through the roof, so the roof had already broken through and the flames were exposed. Shortly after that, the flames went through the ceiling between the roof and the ceiling, and then it became a defensive fire," Fire Capt. Keith Fischer said.
The owner says the restaurant closed around 10 o'clock the night before and it just remodeled the banquet hall in April.
The cause of the fire isn't known yet, but officials say there's no indication it was suspicious. Firefighters believe the fire started in the bar.
Crews from at least 15 fire departments assisted Elkhart Lake, including Ada, Beechwood, Cascade, Cedar Grove, Glenbeulah, Greenbush, Howards Grove, Johnsonville, Oostburg, Plymouth, Town of Sheboygan, City of Sheboygan Falls, Town of Sheboygan Falls, Silver Creek and Town of Wilson.
