Former Mayville fire chief killed in crash on Highway 151

FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - A 78-year-old man was killed Wednesday in a crash on Highway 151 in Fond du Lac County.

The Sheriff's Office has identified the victim as Lynn Cundy of Mayville. The Mayville Fire Department posted on Facebook that Cundy was a former fire chief.

"Even though our hearts are very heavy at this time, we are very proud to have had him on the department for many years," reads the Facebook post.

The Sheriff's Office says deputies and emergency crews responded to a crash at Highway 151 and Towne Road in the Township of Oakfield.

Investigators say a pickup truck pulling a trailer with farm equipment was attempting to cross the highway when a southbound vehicle struck the farm equipment.

The driver of the southbound vehicle, Lynn Cundy, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cundy's passenger, 73-year-old Dorothy McCrory, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck, 19-year-old William Bush of Horicon, was not hurt.

All three people were wearing seatbelts, officials say.

The crash remains under investigation. Crews responded to the scene at 4:49 p.m.
