GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes spoke about sustainable energy opportunities while visiting Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.
On Wednesday, Barnes toured the Great Lakes Energy Education Center. The center creates a focus on renewable energy, electrical power and energy management.
"We can be recognized, here in Wisconsin, as a place that creates our own energy. We can create a model for other states across this country and I'm happy, very excited to be given the opportunity to lead that charge," the Democrat says. "We know we cannot get this done on our own. It's going to take instructors. It's going to take the educational opportunities across the state and it's going to take the wonderful students who are interested in these types of programs."
The Great Lakes Energy Education Center was completed in 2018.
