GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Construction is halted at the Hotel Northland due to a lawsuit.
A spokesperson for Hotel Northland LLC states the lawsuit has caused a delay in the company's ability to close with its senior lender. Until the matter is settled, there will be no work on the $44 million hotel renovation.
"Until a new closing date is set, Hotel Northland LLC and KPH Construction Inc. will curtail all work on the project, which is 75 percent complete," says spokesperson Brigette Breitenbach.
ALG Northland Management LLC, based in Oregon, claims a breach of contract and is asking for at least $200,000 in damages in the lawsuit filed April 26.
The firm says it was hired to provide technical services to the hotel before it opened and manage the hotel once it did open.
Court documents allege they were not paid for the pre-opening services and Hotel Northland announced someone else will be managing the hotel.
Construction was previously delayed due to a court battle over who owns the building. A judge sided with KPH Construction.
KPH Construction said it hoped to have the hotel open to guests by fall.
