GREEN BAY, Wis (WBAY)- Another Phoenix standout proves that high major programs are not the only avenue to the pros. Mehryn Kaker is going to the WNBA.
The Washington Mystics selected Kraker with the 27th overall pick on Thursday night; that is the 3rd pick in the third round.
Kraker, the Horizon League player of the year, joins Julie Wojta as the only Phoenix players drafted by the WNBA. Former Phoenix Chandra Johnson also played in the league with the Los Angeles Sparks.
Kraker finished her collegiate career as Green Bay's all-time leader in made 3-pointers with 234, and scored 1,671 points. This past season, Kraker averaged 17.6 points per game, the highest average in the program in 5 years.
