Jackie Nitschke Center receives $75K donation for serenity garden
The Jackie Nitschke Center in Green Bay has received a $75,000 gift to fund an outdoor serenity garden and recreational area.
The money was raised by Aurora Health Care's second annual "A Cause to Celebrate" event. Aurora presented the $75,000 check to the Jackie Nitschke Center on Sept. 13.
The Jackie Nitschke Center, 630 Cherry St, helps people recover from substance abuse. Treatment focuses on continuing care.
The new serenity garden will have a green space, patios, a basketball court and a privacy fence.
The project should be complete prior to the end of September.
The Jackie Nitschke Center is named for the wife for Packers legend Ray Nitschke. She went public to discuss her struggle with alcoholism and coping with addiction.
