And the worse the winter weather, the busier Judy Schuh becomes.
"Lots of people still wanting to get out, the bad weather brings them in easily, so they're ready to go," says Schuh, a travel consultant for Fox World Travel in Green Bay.
After the combination of snow, bitter cold, freezing rain and more snow, Schuh is hearing desperation over the phone.
"A lot of people saying, 'OK, I can't stand the weather, I'm getting cabin fever, I'll go anywhere,'" says Schuh with a chuckle.
While Tuesday's snowstorm caused some flights at Austin Straubel International Airport to be canceled or delayed, Matt Coopman has his sights set on Florida.
"It's great to be here and have the four seasons, but this time of year it's also nice to get out for a little bit as well," says Coopman, from De Pere.
Heading for Washington, D.C., Tuesday, Laurie Wells just had her getaway.
"I just got back from Hawaii on Sunday night, and I was delayed because of snow on Sunday. so nicer in Hawaii," says Wells.
At Fox World Travel, Schuh says people of all ages are booking last minute vacations.
"Jamaica; Punta Cana, Mexico, is still very, very popular; the Riviera Maya; Puerto Vallarta, so anywhere there's sunshine and beaches," says Schuh, adding that in the U.S., Florida, Arizona, Texas and Las Vegas are in demand.
Most people are heading out of town for a week, but for some it's a four-day escape.
"If people are looking to travel, there's some great deals to be had," says Schuh with a smile.
