Hotels see spike in reservations after Green Bay Packers schedule drops

BROWN COUNTY, Wis. Hotels in the area are preparing for a spike in reservations throughout the week due to the Green Bay Packers schedule coming out. One of those hotels include the newly re-opened Hotel Northland.

Staff at Home2 Suites Hilton in Ashwaubenon take reservations Wednesday night

Hotels within walking distance from Lambeau Field, like the Hilton Home2 Suites in Ashwaubenon, say the next few days are going to be busy.

"Absolutely you know the next couple of days into the next week or two we'll probably be really busy with extra Packer reservations," said Michelle Angell, Director of Sales for Home2 Suites Hilton Ashwaubenon.

Angell is preparing for those reservations with extra staffing, for now and later.

"Specifically for tonight we have extra front desk staff that are on,” said Angell. “Then you know during actual game season we have extra housekeeping and different things because of the increased volumes of people that will be here."

The Home2 Suites opened December of 2017 and already has one full Packers season under its belt.

"We will sell out. We will have sell-outs for all the home Packer games, and I'm sure all the hotels around us that are close to the stadium will be in the same situation," said Angell.

Hotel Northland in downtown Green Bay, this upcoming football season will be the first since its re-opening.

"We anticipate the football season being very good for us and we've got some great you know competitors here in town that have enjoyed the business for many years,” said John Williams, General Manager of Hotel Northland. “We're going try to dip in that a little bit."

Hotel Northland's history is filled with Packers memories, Williams says Vince Lombardi even signed his first contract at the hotel. That tie to the Packers may be the one of the reasons to get visitors through the doors.

"You know Vince Lombardi signed his first contract here, he's got a rich history with the team and you know we really are very proud of that,” said Williams. “We're on the Packers history trail so tourists come by and we've got a large plaque on the outside of the building on Pine Street."

Both hotels say they are looking forward to one of their busiest times of the year.
