GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - A hotel wants to build at the site of the former Brett Favre Steakhouse in Green Bay.

On April 22, a request for a Conditional Use Permit was made at the Green Bay Plan Commission meeting. The property is located at Brett Favre Pass and Tony Canadeo Run--also known as the Legends District.

The proposal is for a five-story luxury hotel called The Legacy. It would have 79 guest rooms. Sixty-five of the rooms will be studio suites. Eleven rooms will be classic suites, and three will be grand suites. There will be a bar and Brasserie restaurant on the main level and a bar and roof top patio on the 5th floor.

The hotel needs a permit to exceed the maximum height of 35 feet in the development district. The proposed hotel is 75 feet.

The Legacy would use building materials and colors consistent with the Legends district plan.

"The proposed hotel is a complement to the existing developments in the area and will contribute to the continued transformation of the area from a one-time industrial development to a commercial destination consistent with the City’s Comprehensive Plan and the Legends District Master Plan," reads the proposal to the plan commission.

Brett Favre Steakhouse changed its name in 2017 to Hall of Fame Chophouse. The restaurant closed in May 2018.
