20 cattle dead after Hobart barn fire; owner taken to hospital

HOBART, Wis. (WBAY) - A barn is damaged and the owner is in the hospital after a fire in Hobart.

Officials say the barn's owner was having a heart attack when they arrived. He's in the hospital, but we don't know his condition.

Hobart Assistant Fire Chief Jim Henn says the fire started just after 10:00 p.m. Tuesday night in a utility room in the barn.

The building is near the intersection of South Overland Road and County Highway EE.

Henn says 90 head of cattle were rescued, but 20 cattle died.

He says the barn is a total loss.

Officials don't yet know how the fire started.

Crews had to block nearby roads for much of the night to work on the fire.
