Updated to correct that the man arrested is not the suspected shooter but is a person of interest in the case.

A 28-year-old man wanted in connection to a shooting near a Green Bay high school was arrested in Gillett.

Green Bay Police told Gillett Police that the person of interest was believed to be in their jurisdiction. At about 2 a.m., officers located his vehicle at a motel.

Gillett officers learned he was with other people inside the motel and was believed to be "heavily armed."

Gillett Police and the Oconto County Sheriff's Office set up a perimeter around the motel and got residents to safety before attempting to arrest him.

Shortly before 5 a.m., the person was taken into custody without incident and turned over to Green Bay Police.

Police say the man is likely not the shooter in Wednesday's incident but is a "major player" in the case.

An 18-year-old woman was also taken into custody. Police did not say that she was involved in the Green Bay shooting.

A search of the motel room turned up "items related to the use and distribution of marijuana and meth amphetamines," reads a statement from Gillett Police.

The suspect was wanted in connection to a shooting that happened the afternoon of April 11 at a house across the street from Green Bay West High School. Police say there was an exchange of gunfire outside the home on the 900 block of Shawano Ave. No one was hurt.

Officers were given a description of a suspect vehicle that drove away from the scene after the shooting. Police located the vehicle in a neighborhood just south of West High School. Officers stopped the car. Three of the four occupants ran off.

The driver stayed with the vehicle and was taken into custody. Police found two other suspects who ran off and took them into custody.

A fourth person remained on the loose.

Eight Green Bay schools were placed on lockdown following the shooting.

Green Bay Police are continuing to investigate the shooting. They have not identified anyone involved.

Police say the 28-year-old suspect arrested in Gillett faces possible drugs charges in Oconto County.
