GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Three people were forced out of their home after a house fire on the Green Bay’s east side. Green Bay Fire Department said firefighters were sent to the 1100 block of Day Street around 3 a.m on Saturday. When crews arrived on the scene, the two-story home had smoke coming out of the front door and the fire was inside the first floor bedroom.
The fire was put out within 10 minutes.
According to GBMFD, a person in the home had closed the door to the room where the fire started before exiting. Firefighters said this minimized the spread of the fire and smoke inside the home.
Firefighters suggest you to sleep with bedroom doors closed to increase your chances of escape in the event of a fire. This will limit fire spread and damage.
