A federal grand jury has returned a three-count indictment against an Appleton man for armed robbery and gun offenses.

Xengxai Yang, 19, is charged with Armed Bank Robbery, Using a Short-barreled Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime, and Possession of a Short-barreled Rifle.

Investigators say Xengxai Yang robbed the federally insured Community First Credit Union, 1235 W Spencer Street, on March 15.

He used a rifle with a barrel less than 16 inches, according to the United States Attorney's Office of the Eastern District of Wisconsin.

After the robbery, an Appleton Police Officer responded to the parking lot and saw a man wearing a mask who fit the suspect description. The officer arrested the man, later identified as Xengxai Yang.
