As anticipation builds Pat Flanagan is excited, to once again be the organizer of "Flanagan's Beer and Wine Festival", which is an event that's supported more than three hundred charitable causes.

"Up to the 26th annual we raised $960,000. This year with a little help from everybody we're going to top a million dollars. That's our goal, we want to hit a million dollars, and that's just my little business in town raising a million dollars we donate to charity. I'm a little proud of that too," said Flanagan, who owns Flanagan's Stop and Shop.

Those who go will have a chance to sample an array of locally produced craft beers, and different types of wine. Plus, enter drawings to win a share of the $75,000 worth of prizes being given away.

Flanagan said, "There use to be a St. Patrick's Day parade years ago. I replaced that St. Patrick's Day parade with a fundraiser and we donate all the money we make, a hundred percent of the proceeds benefit all local charities."

He added, "There's a lot of people in the valley, just the valley that need help. Not out of the valley, just taking care of the local people here."

Some of the past causes include ALS, Children's Hospital, and various individuals battling cancer.

"These are friends of mine that I grew up with, good friends of mine that are young and they're dying of cancer, or they need a stem cell transplant and your helping out people right in the valley," Flanagan said.

WBAY-TV is a sponsor of the event.

Flanagan's Beer and Wine Festival is Saturday from 5 PM to 9 PM at The Darboy Club in Darboy. Tickets are $40 in advance, and $50 at the door. Tickets are available at The Bar, The Stoneyard, Flanagan’s Stop & Shop.
