House fire kills man near Pulaski
The Pulaski Tri-County fire chief says a man was found dead in a house fire near Pulaski Friday morning.
The fire started at about 8 a.m., Chief James Styczynski said, and firefighters had it under control in about an hour.
He says the victim is the victim, an older man, lived alone in the house. He believes relatives have been contacted but the victim's name is not being made public yet.
The cause of the fire is unknown, but Styczynski says there is "nothing suspicious."
He says the fire started on the back side of the house. Investigators are trying to pinpoint the exact location. He expects fire investigators to be at the scene until about 6:30 or 7 p.m.
No one who responded to the fire was hurt.
The State Fire Marshal is assisting with the investigation, according to the Pulaski Tri-County Fire Chief.
The chief said the two-story home located on County Highway B in Pittsfield was destroyed.
The fire started in the back of the home, but the cause remains under investigation.
The chief is planning a news conference for this evening.
