WAUPACA COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - Three fire departments responded to a fire at Log Cabin Bar near New London late Thursday afternoon.
The New London Fire Department says the fire was reported shortly before 4:30 at the bar on Highway 54. There was heavy smoke coming from the basement of the living quarters in the back of the bar.
They put the flames out quickly in the basement, but the basement was already gutted by the flames, and the fire continued to smolder inside the walls of the living area.
By the time firefighters were able to clear the scene two hours later, there had been considerable smoke damage and the building's electricity had been shut off as a precaution due to the damage to the wiring.
There were no injuries.
The property owner said there were electrical problems in the basement before the fire, the New London Fire Department said.
New London was assisted by firefighters from Manawa and water trucked in by the Bear Creek Fire Department.
