LITTLE CHUTE, Wis. (WBAY) - Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin has a new way to get healthy foods to families.
Tuesday, Feeding America and Associated Bank volunteers worked with the new bulk food repacking system at the Little Chute facility.
The equipment in the new, state-of-the-art clean room allows Feeding America to accept large donations of food from grocers. Volunteers wear sterile gear to make sure the food stays safe.
"We bring in volunteers, we train them how to take in big, bulk totes of food and, using the equipment, break it down into family size," Feeding America's Patti Habeck said.
Donors helped pay for the equipment, allowing them to take in food they would otherwise have to turn away.
