FEMA denies individual assistance for Fond du Lac County storm damage

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WBAY) - Fond du Lac County property owners aren't eligible for federal assistance individually for storm and flood damage in August and September.

Fond du Lac County Emergency Management announced the result of FEMA's review on Thursday.

FEMA determined the majority of homes were damaged by tornadoes or straight-line winds -- damage that was largely covered by insurance. Some homes sustained flooding or other damage which was not covered by insurance, but not enough to meet the criteria.

Gov. Walker requested a disaster declaration for 18 counties, and specifically requested individual assistance in 14 of them.
