WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - Emergency pothole repair will slow traffic during the Wednesday evening commute on Highway 441/US 10 in Winnebago County.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is closing Westbound US 10/Southbound WIS 441 from Oneida Street to Racine Road (County P). The closure is scheduled for 12:30 - 7 p.m.
The highway will be down to one lane while crews work to repair a large pothole near the Racine Road exit ramp. Heavy rain overnight caused pavement to fail in the area.
"Motorists should expect significant backups and slow traffic during the evening commute," the DOT says.
The pothole is 20 feet long and nine inches deep, according to the DOT.
Crews have been filling it with "cold mix" but that hasn't been working. Asphalt companies in the area don't open until late spring, so the agency had to go to Milwaukee to get "hot mix."
These ramps will also be closed during repair: Westbound US 10/Southbound WIS 441 on-ramp from WIS 47/Appleton Road and the Westbound US 10/Southbound WIS 441 off-ramp to County P/Racine Road.
The pothole caused backups during the Wednesday morning commute.
