DE PERE, Wis. (WBAY) - Thursday night while it was obviously winter outside, the De Pere Parks Board debated several design options for the VFW and Legion swimming pools which will soon be rebuilt.

The VFW pool will remain closed this year because of structural damage, and it's been 30 years since either pool was upgraded.
The board is asking a consultant for two separate design proposals for each pool, and they could be the focus of a public hearing as early as February.
In a recent survey, many people voiced support for diving boards and a variety of other options.
"Right now our old pool buildings were kind of a community locker room, community shower. Some of the common themes that came out, they want to see changing rooms, family rooms. They'd like to see an expanded concession that reaches inside and outside the facility," Parks, Recreation and Forestry Director Marty Kosobucki said.
In November, voters approved a referendum adding $900,000 per year to the tax levy to support two new aquatic facilities.
