DE PERE, Wis. (WBAY) -- The De Pere Fire and Rescue Department opened its doors to the public on Saturday.
People had a chance to see the department's fire/rescue vehicles, tour the fire house, and see some fire prevention demonstrations.
Fire fighters gave a live fire demonstration of a sprinkler protected room verses a non-sprinkler protected room.
Fire officials say the demonstration shows how fast a fire builds and how an in-home sprinkler system can help knock down the flames before a fire department arrives.
The annual open house aims to remind people that the fire department is there to serve the community.
