Crashed snowmobiler waited 57 minutes for help in bad weather

FLORENCE COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - Monday's poor weather conditions kept a medical helicopter from reaching an injured snowmobiler who crashed on the Pine River in Florence County.

First responders had to use a four-wheeler to reach the injured Iron County man nearly an hour after the crash was first reported.

The man hit a large rock while going about 60 miles per hour, causing the snowmobile to roll several times.

The person he was with called 911. Using GPS coordinates, crews were able to plot their location.

The victim was taken to the hospital with head and arm injuries.
