GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - The Cellcom Green Bay Marathon is changing course for 2019, moving the start and finish lines from iconic Lambeau Field back to downtown Green Bay.
“This move allows us to introduce new courses for all of our events, while still giving people the opportunity to circle Lambeau Field. The event started downtown for our first seven years, so it is fun for us to go back to our roots and give runners some new scenery,” said Toni Jaeckels, race director for the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon. “Our Prevea Health & Fitness Expo and packet pick-up will still take place at Lambeau Field, so runners will still get that great Lambeau Field energy before the race.”
The distance events will start and finish downtown. The 5K will start and finish near the Green Bay Distillery.
Registration for the 2019 marathon opened Thursday. It will be the 20th year of the race.
Race dates are May 18-19.
The Cellcom Green Bay marathon includes a full marathon, a relay marathon, a half marathon, a half relay, a 5K and a kid's run.
