Brown County Library and Packers wives ask you to Give-a-Kid-a-Book

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - The 30th annual Give-a-Kid-a-Book campaign in Brown County kicked off Thursday.

Following tradition, Green Bay Packers' wives helped to start the campaign at the central library downtown, including Molly Crosby, wife of Mason Crosby; Monica Goode, wife of Brett Goode; and Jessica McCarthy, wife of head coach Mike McCarthy.

Crosby and Friends of the Brown County Library ask you to donate a new, unwrapped book before Monday, December 10. The campaign looks for books for all ages -- from babies to older teens.

Fifth-grade students from Fort Howard Elementary School talked about what reading means to them.

"I like to read because when I read I can imagine exactly what's going on, and it's almost like watching a movie in my head," one student said.

"I like to read because if I practice more I an be anything I want to be," said another.

Book donations can be made at any Brown County library branch, Barnes & Noble, Nicolet National Bank and The Reader’s Loft.

Make a monetary donation, and Friends of the Brown County Library will do the shopping. Donations can be made at library branches, or mail checks made payable to "Friends of BCL, GAKAB" to:

Brown County Library
515 Pine St.
Green Bay, WI 54301

More than 309,000 books were donated for last year's campaign.
