Braun, Villar rehab with Timber Rattlers in Grand Chute

Thursday night's game has been rained out. Timber Rattlers will play a doubleheader Friday with the first game starting at 5:35 p.m.

A couple of Milwaukee Brewers begin a short rehab stint with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Thursday.

Outfielder Ryan Braun and second basemen Jonathan VIllar are in the lineup for the Timber Rattlers as they take on Kane County on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute.

Braun will be a designated hitter, hitting fouth and VIllar will play second base and lead off. Villar is rehabbing a lower back injury while Braun is rehabbing an injured calf.

"It feels good," Braun said about his calf. "It feels much better than it did last time I tried to play. I think the game is ultimate challenge. Gives you a much better idea of where you are at physically because nothing is under control. You don't know when you are going to run, where you're going to run, which direction you are going to run in so I look forward to all those challenges and hopefully passing all those test."

This is the first time Ryan Braun has rehabbed with the Low-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers during his 11-year career with the Brewers. The plan for Braun is to DH Thursday, then play in the outfield for seven innings on Friday, rest on Saturday and then play a full game on Sunday and join the Brewers on Tuesday. That's if all goes well and he passes his rehabbing tests.

"Just running overall is certainly most running concerning," Braun said. "I'm not concerned with swinging the bat or throwing but really exploding off of the calf that is the thing that I'm least confident in. I'm optimistic that it will respond well but again until you get in a game setting you never really know exactly how it will feel."
