Borseth earns 700th win as Phoenix down YSU

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- Saturday afternoon was a microcosm of a dominant head coaching career for Kevin Borseth, as the Phoenix welcomed second-place Youngstown State to the Kress Center and cruised to a 60-42 victory over the Penguins. Borseth notched his 700th career victory as a head coach in the process and became the 29th coach in NCAA history to reach the milestone.
The Phoenix (9-6, 4-1) shined on both ends of the hardwood, with the defense holding YSU (12-5, 4-2) to less than 10 points in multiple quarters and the offense firing on all cylinders to lead by as many as 22 points in the matchup.
Seniors Jen Wellnitz and Laken James stepped up much like they have all season for GB, amassing 17 points apiece and combining for 10 steals against a team notorious for protecting the ball. The senior duo converted on 13 field goals to shoot 50% from the field, banged four triples and tallied two blocks.
Madison Wolf was all over the court in the first double-double performance of her career, scoring 10 points and matching her career high set against Wisconsin earlier in the season with 12 rebounds.
Green Bay returns to the road next weekend for a pair of league bouts, as the Phoenix heads to Detroit Mercy on Thursday followed by a trip to Oakland on Saturday.
