Big Brothers Big Sisters joins Marines on shopping spree

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WBAY) – The holiday season has arrived, which means it is the season of giving.

The staff of Big Brothers Big Sisters worked closely with several U.S. Marines to buy toys for nearly 150 “littles” earlier this Wednesday.

The group went on a shopping spree at Shopko at Bay Park Square Mall as a part of the Toys for Tots program.

Joy Wick of Big Brother Big Sister’s marketing had a smile on her face and a cart in her hands. “It’s really fun to go shopping and have all these community groups come together to create this special event, this one memory for our kiddos, their 'bigs' and our families.”

A holiday party will be hosted next week for the “bigs” and the kids and about 300 people are expected to join. The kids will be overjoyed to open their gifts and celebrate with Santa and food.

Several community organizations and businesses have partnered with the Marines as well as the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization for 10 years now. They want to continue and bring the joy for years to come.
