Green Bay's Bay Beach Amusement Park opens for its 127th season Saturday, May 4.

One of the most anticipated new additions to the park this year is the Big Wheel.

The new Ferris Wheel is still under construction, but the park hopes to have it ready for riders soon.

The new ride is wheelchair-accessible.

"It was very important as far as the park in general that we be able to include everyone," says Jason Arnoldi, park manager. "This year for the wheel we made sure that we had a wheelchair-accessible gondola."

The Big Wheel is the product of Chance Rides. It was constructed over the last year in Wichita, Kansas.

The Big Wheel's bragging point is the view.

"This wheel's about twice as high as the current Ferris Wheel so again, the views will be great," Arnoldi says. "It goes a little bit slower than our current one so it won't be quite the thrill ride, but you get a lot of great views out of it."

The rainy spring weather has slowed construction on the Big Wheel, but Arnoldi hopes it will be up and running as soon as possible.
