Ashwaubenon's Smoke the Turkey escapes Thanksgiving close call

Ashwaubenon's now world-famous Smoke the Turkey had a close call on, of all days, Thanksgiving.
Ashwaubenon Public Safety was called to check on Smoke on Turkey Day after a report that the neighborhood gobbler had been hit by a car.
Officers were unable to locate the vehicle and were cleared from the call. There will be no charges or citations, according to Ashwaubenon Public Safety.
It doesn't appear that brush with danger scared Smoke too much. Members of the Smoke the Turkey - Mayor of Ashwaubenon Facebook page have posted photos of their weekend encounters with the bird.
Smoke started as a local phenomenon. He separated from his flock and took up residence in the village. Residents gave him the unofficial title of Mayor of Ashwaubenon. Action 2 News' Cearron Bagenda
