ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WBAY) - One good deed deserves another.

An Ashwaubenon girl, 9, who donated her birthday money to a police K-9 program received a helping hand from the department when her softball equipment was stolen.

Last week, Mariah Weiss donated $600 to the Ashwaubenon Public Safety K-9 program. She raised the money through friends at her birthday party.

It's Mariah's goal to work for the police department.

Public Safety learned that Mariah's softball equipment was stolen.

Lt. Don Riha and his wife, Tammy, and Officer Scott Fassbender took Mariah shopping for some new catcher's equipment.

"Thank you again Mariah and thank you Lt. and Mrs. Riha and Officer Fassbender for this great gesture of kindness," reads a statement from Lt. Jody Crocker.

Ashwaubenon Public Safety plans to hang a paw plaque with Mariah's name for her gift to the K-9 program.
