APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) - Appleton police have added a crime mapping program to the police department's website.

Police say this will give community members and visitors to the area more access to crime data.

The website,, provides a Google map overlaid with incident reports such as burglaries, drug crimes, drunk driving arrests, sex offenses, and calls to check on a person's welfare.

Crimes are mapped by block; exact addresses are not given.

It shows how many of the crimes or calls the police responded to, and whether that increased or decreased since 2018.

Because the map contains so much data it can take a minute or more for the information to load, especially if you choose a lot of violations to be displayed on the map.

The information is updated each day at about 3 a.m.

A tutorial for using the crime mapping website can be found on the Appleton Police Department's Facebook page.
