APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY)- The roads are much better Thursday night after a mix of snow and sleet earlier in the day came as many people were heading home from work.
In downtown Appleton, slick sidewalks covered in snow were the focus of a massive clean-up outside the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center as ticket holders started to show up.
"We contemplated going, coming all day, and last minute we decided to venture out and the roads weren't that bad," said Debbie Diem of Hortonville.
Misty Servi of Antigo said, "We're from about two hours north of here. so it was quite interesting."
Her husband, Joe, added, "We drove from Antigo this far tonight. We stopped and had dinner and made it an evening, but yeah, it was a little tough going. Just slushy and slippery."
While the storm didn't leave behind a ton of snow, it did leave enough to cover up the ice and pose a hazard to both those on foot and behind the wheel.
It was especially slick on side streets.
"There was a lot of people plowing about today, a lot of shovelers, especially when we came in on the back streets, so there's all kinds of people out and about plowing and whatnot today. So yeah, it was pretty serious but not too bad otherwise," said Justin Brockman of Green Bay.
Many people told us they've had enough of the near constant winter storms lately.
Laurie Brockman of Appleton said, laughing, "I'm tired of it. I'm ready for spring. I'm ready for spring or a vacation somewhere warm or something."
