Crews continue search for missing boater on Little Lake Butte Des Morts

The search for a missing boater on Little Lake Butte Des Morts goes into a third day.

The dive team was back out at the 9th Street Boat landing in Menasha Monday morning.

Crews have been searching for the boater since Saturday, when the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office received a call about an empty boat spinning in circles.

The Sheriff's Office has asked boaters to use a different landing as search operations continue.

UPDATE: Crews will continue searching Little Lake Butte Des Morts Sunday. The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office is asking people to avoid the 9th Street boat landing in Menasha, as dive operations will be launching from the location.


A passerby tells Action 2 News he saw an abandoned boat in the water, spinning in circles. He called 911 and the sheriff’s office came around 12:30 pm.

Neenah-Menasha Fire and the sheriff's office searched, but no one was found, according to the sheriff’s office. Photos from the witness show the Winnebago Sheriff's boat with a dive team aboard.

The sheriff's office says the search will continue on Sunday.
