A record number of people took part in the 2019 PI Day 5K run/walk in Green Bay.

Six-hundred and twenty-nine people of all ages braved the cold Saturday to raise money for the Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity.

2019 marks the 5th year of the PI Day 5/K in Green Bay. Fifth graders at Leonardo Da Vinci School for Gifted Learners organize the race.

"We celebrate PI Day here on March 14th every year, so we wanted to make it a community event and really be altruistic and give back to Habitat for Humanity," says Allison Hockers, race adviser.

The Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity uses the funds to build affordable homes for qualified families. The families help work on the home builds. The buyers get an interest-free mortgage.
