Sheriff's office identifies woman who drowned in Florence County

FLORENCE COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) -- The Florence County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a woman who drowned at Vagabond Boat Landing Aug. 17.

The victim was identified as 52-year-old Robin Dean of Iron Mountain, Mich.

The case has been ruled an accidental drowning.

The Sheriff's Office said Dean and a male companion had returned to the dock after boat ride. Dean was holding a rope attached to the boat while the man went for the vehicle and trailer.

The man returned to the dock a few minutes later and found Dean floating in the water. He retrieved Dean from the water and started CPR. A man from another boat tried to help.

Chief Deputy David Gribble said Dean was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
