Sheriff's Office identifies man who drowned in Fremont pond

WAUPACA COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) – The Waupaca County Sheriff's Office has identified a man who drowned in a pond as Daniel C. Lewis.

The 37-year-old Lewis was pronounced dead Sunday at a Neenah hospital.

At 3:57 p.m., an ambulance was called to the scene in rural Fremont. Dispatchers were informed that a man was drowning in a pond behind a home.

Before the ambulance arrived, Good Samaritans pulled Lewis from the water and attempted to give him CPR.

Lewis was transported to ThedaCare in Neenah and pronounced dead at the hospital.

This incident remains under investigation.
