As Action 2 News This Morning prepared for its debut, the opportunity to serve as WBAY-TV’s premier morning news anchor intrigued Kevin Rompa. He arrived in Green Bay in 1989 determined to supply Northeast Wisconsin with “a reason to start the day with a smile.” Kevin also hosts Action 2 News at Noon .

The youngest of three boys, Kevin grew up in Winona, Minnesota. He attended college at Winona State University and the Brown Institute of Radio and TV. He also received valuable training through an internship at a radio and television station in St. Paul.

Kevin’s involvement with media started with delivering newspapers at age nine. Since then, he has worked as a news director and anchor/reporter for Wisconsin radio stations in New London and Appleton. His professional television experience began as an anchor and news reporter at WAOW-TV in Wausau, Wisconsin.

Coming to WBAY allowed Kevin to settle near New London, the hometown of his wife and best friend, Maureen. Both Kevin and Maureen delight in raising their three children, Nick, Vanessa, and Brandon. Family matters to Kevin, who happily admits he loves relaxing “with my family, who are really the only people I hang out with.” He enjoys basketball and tennis, and occasionally indulges in a leisurely walk through the woods.

Kevin also maintains a life of faith. “God comes first. Every day I try to live my life in a way I hope will please Him by reaching out to anyone who needs a helping hand.” He puts his words into action as a volunteer driver for the American Red Cross. He has also served six years as a basketball coach for the St. Joseph Parish school in Green Bay.
