Kathryn knows mornings are an important time for people in Northeastern Wisconsin, that’s why she’s glad to be part of the Action 2 News This Morning team. She takes pride in helping people get the news and traffic information they need to start the day.
After beginning her career as a reporter at KCCO-TV (a small station in Alexandria, Minnesota), Kathryn moved to the Badger State to become the weekend anchor at WQOW-TV 18 in Eau Claire. While at WQOW-TV she won a Wisconsin Broadcasters Association award for Best Small Market Feature Story, for a piece on a man with developmental disabilities who uses assistive technology to better communicate. She was hired as a reporter in the Action 2 News Fox Valley Newsroom in 2003 and was promoted to anchor of Action 2 News This Morning in 2006.
Kathryn grew up in the Twin Cities area near one of Minnesota’s 10,000 lakes. She’s a University of Minnesota alumna. Kathryn is proud her great-grandfather was born and raised in Appleton. She loves reading books by and about women-especially the ones by her mother, who’s a published romance novelist. She also enjoys practicing the Spanish she learned from her father, who grew up in Mexico City.
Kathryn and her husband Michael live in Green Bay. Their son Declan was born in 2009 on July 19th, his mom’s birthday! Her son Taran was born in May 2012-–13 days late! Kathryn’s stepson Ashton is a wonderful big brother.
One of Kathryn’s favorite activities is talking with Action 2 News This Morning viewers when she’s out and about.
