Politicians across Wisconsin offer prayers, condemn violence after shooting at Trump rally

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Politicians across Wisconsin are reacting to what is being investigated as an assassination attempt towards former President Donald Trump.

Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin posted on X (formerly Twitter) condemning the violence.

Republican Senate challenger Eric Hovde posted on X (formerly Twitter) asking for prayers and then posting the photo of Trump raising his fist while surrounded by Secret Service agents.

Governor Tony Evers thanked the first responders who kept people safe, and said that his thoughts are with Trump and the rally attendees.

Republican Congressional candidate Roger Roth said that he is praying for Trump.

Roth also sent a statement to Action 2 News, saying:

“President Trump is in my prayers after surviving this assassination attempt. My heart goes out to the family of the person at the rally who was killed and those injured. This act has no place in America. Pray for President Trump, pray for our country.”

Republican Senator Ron Johnson quoted a Tucker Carlson post of Trump with his fist raised, asking people to pray for Trump and America.

Republican Congressional candidate Tony Wied said that “We are in a fight to save our country!”

Republican Representative Glenn Grothman said he is praying for Trump, his family, and the country.

Former Representative for Wisconsin’s 8th district Mike Gallagher posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying that it’s a “sad and troubling day for our Republic”.

Milwaukee mayor Cavalier Johnson strongly condemned the violence, saying that “No one should be shot”.

Republican Congressional candidate Andre Jacque asked people to keep Trump and his family in their prayers.
