Roncalli’s Garceau named Coach of the Year, AP All-State teams released
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Roncalli’s Joe Garceau has been named the Associated Press Coach of the Year after leading the Jets to a Division 4 state championship.
The Jets knocked off top seeded Milwaukee Academy of Science 55-45 at the Kohl Center back on March 19th. It’s the second state championship in program history with both gold balls coming with Garceau as head coach. The first coming back in 2018.
“Just surprised,” Garceau told the Associated Press. “It’s an honor. If the players didn’t work as hard it wouldn’t be possible. Just another team accomplishment.”
Six other coaches were nominated for the honor this year, including Neenah’s Lee Rabas.
There were no first team selections from northeast Wisconsin this year. Kimberly’s Jackson Paveletzke was named to the AP All-State second team. Roncalil’s Luke Pautz and Ashwaubenon’s Marcus Tomashek were named to the third team.
