3 arrested for home invasion robberies; stolen guns recovered
CRANDON, Wis. (WBAY) - Three people, including two teenagers, are now in custody for two armed home invasion robberies in Forest and Oconto counties last week.
The Forest County Sheriff’s Office says people were threatened in their homes in Wabeno and Mountain last Friday. The robberies happened 30 minutes apart. In each case, three people armed with knives and a gun forced their way into a home. In one robbery, the family dog was stabbed and a 12-year-old boy had a gun pointed at him as he was forced to lay down on the floor as the robbers took cash, jewelry and prescription pills. In the other robbery, another child had a gun pointed at them as several guns and other items were stolen.
Witnesses helped identify the attackers’ getaway vehicle as a police utility-style Ford Explorer. The robbers hit a gate as they fled the second robbery, leaving damage to their SUV, including a broken tail light lens.
Wednesday, an Oconto County deputy stopped an SUV matching that description. Evidence was found inside. The driver, Kevin Reed, 20, from White Lake, was arrested and taken to the Oconto County jail, and investigators got leads on two accomplices.
Keilon Reed, 16, from White Lake, and Galen Daniels, 17, from Wabeno, were arrested after search warrants were executed shortly after midnight Thursday. When they arrested Keilon Reed, deputies found evidence from both robberies, including all of the firearms stolen in Oconto County and a gun they believe was used in both home invasions.
The Forest County Sheriff’s Office says the teens are being charged as adults. They’re currently in the Forest County jail.
Authorities say in the Forest County robbery, the thieves parked the vehicle on Industrial Park Road and walked through the woods to the home, where they got in through the back door. Investigators say they found evidence the robbers dropped while going back to their SUV as well as shoe prints and vehicle tread impressions.
