Appleton Police K9 dies
Waskos was a 6-year veteran of the Appleton Police Department
APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) - Appleton police are saddened by the loss of one of their K9 officers. A Facebook post by the Appleton Police Department Wednesday morning said K9 Waskos died last Friday from an acute medical condition. Waskos was still on active duty with the police department with his handler, Sgt. Craig Rohm.
Waskos was a six-year veteran of the Appleton Police Department, starting his watch in February, 2015. The police department credits him with apprehending countless criminals and assisting the SWAT team and other specialized units.
Besides his daily patrols to keep the community safe, Waskos was an ambassador for the police department. “Waskos never declined a moment to be showcased on social media and was always ready to help with a K9 demonstration,” the police department says.
“He will be remembered for his amazing personality, his love for the work he did, and as a true protector of our community. Waskos loved to come to work and was truly happy when he was working and training with Sergeant Rohm.”
