Lambeau Field COVID-19 vaccination site opens

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - A community COVID-19 vaccine site is open at Lambeau Field. The first shot was given at 7 a.m. Wednesday.

The site is a collaboration between the Green Bay Packers, Bellin Health and Brown County Public Health.

The site is located in the Lambeau Field Atrium and may expand to other areas of the stadium, depending on vaccine supply and weather.

The site is open to people who are eligible to receive the vaccine in Wisconsin. Starting March 22, that includes people with certain medical conditions. CLICK HERE to see if you are eligible for the vaccine. Gov. Tony Evers expects all Wisconsin residents will be eligible on May 1. Gov. Evers toured the clinic Wednesday.

The clinic has capacity to vaccinate 6,000 people per week. The Packers say it will “quickly ramp up to 10,000 individuals weekly.”

“As a community, we still have a long way to go. We want to vaccinate everyone we can. We know that every shot gives protection against serious illness and death, and that’s important to all of us. But every shot we give also gets us closer to some of that life that we knew before the pandemic,” says Bellin Health President and CEO Chris Woleske.

You do not need to be a Bellin patient to be vaccinated at the Lambeau Field clinic. Appointments will be required. The site cannot take walk-ins.

To add your name to the wait list, call (920) 445-7313. Bellin Health will allow scheduling for the Lambeau Field Clinic on their website.

The clinic will be open from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Masks will be required at the Lambeau Field site.

Patients should park in Lot 3 off Lombardi Avenue on the east side of the stadium. Enter through the American Family Insurance Gate and proceed to the Atrium’s main level on the escalator, stairs or elevator.

Bellin says the Lambeau Field site replaces the clinic on Commanche Avenue in Ashwaubenon. They’ve sent out guidance to patients who had appointments set up for the Commanche site.

“We are excited to have that space. It really allows us to expand our footprint and make it very spacious. It also allows us to scale up as vaccine allotments become more available to us. It will quickly allow us to scale up and get more shots in arms which is our mission,” says Sherry Lafond of Bellin Health.

Brown County Public Health Officer Anna Destree says the partnership’s goal is to make sure everyone who wants a vaccine can get one.

“Our goal is a shared goal. It’s a common one among health care workers, community leaders and all of you. A return to normalcy. While the term ‘normalcy’ is unique to each of us, one thing we can agree on is that vaccinating community members with a safe and effective vaccine is a key to getting back to normal. That requires equitable distribution of the vaccine to make sure no one is left behind and all are able to get a vaccine,” says Destree. “Our equity-driven pinnacle operations plan focuses on teaming up with community partners to break down barriers to getting the vaccine to those who need it most.”

The goal is to get 80 percent of the community vaccinated.

“It’s not just about Brown County’s population. It’s about the region. The region of Brown County, we’re a mobile society, so from that standpoint, this facility, this partnership with Bellin, the Green Bay Packers, the state of Wisconsin, it is really, truly going to elevate our ability to get this region vaccinated so we can get back with our lives, we can get back with our economy and we can get back with the things we enjoy as a society,” says Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach.

Wisconsin as a whole is leading the nation in vaccinations per capita, according to Gov. Evers.

“The Wisconsin vaccination program, we’ve done well. We’re headed in the right direction as a state. We’re first in the USA in getting shots in arms per capita,” Evers says.
