MADISON, Wis. (WBAY) - In an effort to remind students at University of Wisconsin schools to get tested and practice behaviors to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, UW System President and former Wisconsin governor Tommy Thompson and Wisconsin comedian Charlie Berens competed in a “Smash COVID” contest.

Thompson challenged Berens, known for the “Manitowoc Minute” to a smash-off in a recent video.

You can watch the full video below.

The duo urged Wisconsinites to get a free COVID-19 test at one of the rapid-results “surge testing” sites across the state during the video, which was filmed on the campus of UW-Milwaukee in Waukesha.

Wisconsin has 22 surge testing sites on or near UW System campuses, and will be operating for several weeks, likely through January 23rd. The UW Madison site is expected to close on January 7.

In a release issued Tuesday, Berens said that he was happy to join President Thompson in bringing attention to the free tests, adding “Keep ‘er Movin’ Wisconsin - through the COVID testing line.”
