GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - A nonprofit organization is spreading joy to cancer patients this holiday season by delivering wreaths to their doors.

Christmas Tree Jubilee is organized by Ribbon of Hope. The De Pere-based nonprofit helps people undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

Area businesses and individuals sponsored the wreaths and designers decorated them.

Typically, Ribbon of Hope donates decorated Christmas trees to patients. Due to COVID-19, they decided wreaths would be a safer option. Wreaths require fewer people for delivery. Also, they won’t have to enter a patient’s home and put them at risk of contracting the virus.

The donation makes a difference in the lives of people who are battling different types of cancer.

“There are so many tears. It’s such an amazing delivery when you go and unveil a tree to the recipient. We get a lot of positive feedback about how it just really made their holiday because they, you know, when you’re undergoing cancer, you’ve got so much focus on your treatment,” says Stacey Nellen-Kolze, Ribbon of Hope, Inc.

The wreaths are currently on display on Washington Street in Downtown Green Bay. They’ll be there until Dec. 3.
