ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WBAY) - Play ball! The Green Bay Booyah and Fond du Lac Dock Spiders begin their limited season Wednesday.

The Booyah host the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters at 6:35 p.m. at Capital Credit Union Field.

The Northwoods League has decided on a shortened season due to the coronavirus pandemic. The teams have adjusted their seating and policies for the health and safety of fans.

Fans are encouraged to wear masks, but they are not required.

In Ashwaubenon, Capital Credit Union Field will be limited to 25 percent capacity. That's about 1,000 fans.

All purchases will be done by credit card. No cash is accepted. TICKETS:

Staff will perform additional cleaning.

All players have been tested for COVID-19. Temperatures will be taken daily. The players will also be encouraged to socially distance as much as possible.

Northwoods League teams are made up of college players from across the country. We spoke with some local athletes who are excited to take the field.

“These protocols are not going to be to tough the implement. A few things here and there. Ultimately it’s for the best, and if it helps us get on the field and play baseball, great,” says Grant Emme, Kaukauna.

Ben Hampton of West De Pere says, “There has been talk of no high fives and no fist bumps, so that will be a little weird when someone does something great and you can’t go up and give the a high five or something.”
