ESCANABA, Mich. (WBAY) - Due to multiple factors, including the State of Michigan’s current crowd size restrictions, the U.P. State Fair in Escanaba Michigan won’t be held this year.

The fair will now be postponed to 2021, according to state fair officials.

The U.P. State Fair Authority made the decision on Tuesday.

In addition to crowd size, the fair’s carnival and midway operator was notified by the licensing agency, LARA-MI Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, that amusement devices other than zip lines aren’t permitted to operate at this time.

Fair officials had been working with partners to create a preparedness plan to protect the health and safety of fair goers.

The fair had been scheduled for August 17 - 23 in Escanaba.
