Welcome Back Packers Luncheon - WBAY

Welcome Back Packers Luncheon

Updated:
After holding their final public practice of training camp this morning, Packers players and coaches headed to the Lambeau Field atrium for the annual Welcome Back Packers Luncheon.

For more than 50 years, the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce has brought fans and their favorite players together for lunch.

"It's completely random, we put all the table numbers into a box and as soon as they're drawn that's where they go so it's really exciting to see who they're going to get," says chamber spokesperson Carina Wilz.

Every player is a guest at a table, including stars like Aaron Rodgers and Clay Mathews.

"Such an amazing time they get to spend, one on one time with each player, get to know them, ask questions, things you would never get the opportunity to do," says Wilz.

After lunch, Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy talked about all the changes around Lambeau Field leading up to the new season.

"We have a new Harlan Plaza, we have a new Pro Shop, got new construction going on everywhere, if you stand around long enough they'll give you a hard hat and put your (bleep) to work," says McCarthy to a roar of laughter.

McCarthy also shared a letter he recently received from his mom, advice for the 2014 season.

"Don't go too fast, take it one step at a time. Number 2, well 2,3 and 4 are about being a good husband, father and son so we'll blow right past that. Number 5, always remember it's about the people, I'm sure games are fun, but the relationships are the real victory," says McCarthy.

The Packers proved that again today during lunch with their fans.
