The annual event Artstreet overtakes downtown Green Bay this weekend.

The three-day event covers part of downtown with art galleries, demonstrations and creative performances.

Activities run until 10 p.m. Saturday and again from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Demonstrations will include pottery, papier-mache and woodturning.

For Northeast Wisconsin artist Scott Menzel, his inspiration is his bedrock.

"For me it's life," he said. "I don't know if I see things differently than others, but I find admiration in everything."

Inspiration can be found not only in Menzel's work, but in Menzel himself.

"My arms are really, it's weird man," he said talking about his spinal muscular atrophy. "I don't know how to describe it to people other than image if gravity's a thousand times stronger on your body."

It's left Menzel's arms motionless. The only movement left in his fingers may appear weak, yet he's found incredible power creating digital art on a computer in what he calls in "magical box."

"I want to show people that despite whatever troubles you may have, if you're determined you can always find a way to get around it," Menzel said. "I don't want to be a person that just talks about it. I want to show through evidence, and I hope my art is that evidence of what I can do."

Menzel's booth is at the corner of Cherry and Jefferson Streets.
