Crash Victim Memorial Held in Oshkosh

Oshkosh -

A memorial took place Friday night in Oshkosh to remember a 12-year-old girl who was killed in a SUV crash last Friday.

Reighlee Stevenson and another 12-year-old girl were among the victims.

Authorities say the vehicle flipped just outside Wausau with 10 kids inside.

The 16 year old driver did not have a license.

She's facing charges in Marathon County.

On a night to remember and reflect on the life of Reighlee Stevenson Menominee Park in Oshkosh Had a big crowd for a massive balloon send-off.

It left a display Reighlee's family felt was very emotional.

"Knowing the story behind it touches all of our hearts deeply because it's been a tradition. Anytime we would go out anywhere and there was balloons that's what we all did with the kids. So it's awesome. It's a great thing," said Courtney Williams, a friend of the family.

Stevenson was on her way to Eau Claire Dells for a picnic and a day of swimming when the crash occurred.

Despite the tragedy Stevenson's mother is asking people to focus on the positive as a way to heal.

"I hope they walk away with some peace and happiness. That's what it should be all about," said Kristi Colley, Stevenson's mother.

Family members say the response to the memorial was almost overwhelming. Even total strangers came forward to offer up support.

Shalaun Lyons another family friend said, "I can't keep up with the phone calls, the texts, the Facebook, just everyone wanting to help. Donations being dropped off at my house from complete strangers. The gratitude is there."

Seeing the balloons is something Colley says her daughter would enjoy.

"She's looking down on us and smiling and thankful I'm sure.">
